Frozen vegetables are cheaper over here too. The factories buy them in huge bulks and process them asap so they are very fresh when frozen which is a bonus. I made a curry, well used coconut milk and curry powder, with frozen beans and fresh tomatoes. It was yummy.

I was astonished at the husband's selfishness, spending the best part of £100 a week that they couldn't afford on food just for himself. And why is it that some people (& don't forget, she is a registered childminder so should know a thing or two about children) assume that little ones only want fairly bland, "basic" food? Even the baby was tucking in enthusiastically and giving her little thumbs up!

Blimey this family saved a lot of money. I can't believe the amount of bottled water they got through.

I find the amount being spent by the families featured in the 'before' part, quite stunning. It's hard to believe that even people on restricted budgets spend so much unnecessarily, and that so much of it winds up in the bin.

Blimey this family saved a lot of money. I can't believe the amount of bottled water they got through. Some people don´t know or believe tap water is fine to drink. I saw an asylum seeker yesterday with 12 big bottles on the back of his bike. I was looking at his bike when he was putting the trolley back. He saw me looking and I asked why did you buy so many bottles. To drink, he said. But do you not know tap water is safe? He did not. You drink tap water, he asked. Always I said, he will do it too from now on. The woman had a coffee weakness, me too but I buy a more expensive brand for the morning and a cheaper for the afternoon.

This is back then. Nice family but as usual an unused kitchen. Lived on packet meals and were never out of the supermarket. Different meals for everyone! Plus youngest son with Diabetes who could eat for England. Greg got them sorted though and saved them a shed load of money.

I usually watch this so was interested to see it's return. As you say a nice family and hope they continue with the new routine. Do they never do a return to some and we find out how well they are doing, months, years on ?
