I agree. We are so used to seeing how the characters in the series have evolved, mainly for the better, that the film version (to me) seems dull, and bland. I'm not criticizing the actors, they just play the characters differently.

Actually, I had seen this one before, but totally forgot until I saw Christopher Jacot, who plays the slimey butler chappie who gets girls pregnant!

I am confused about this pioneering fertility treatment for Julia. I thought she was sterile after a botched abortion, not because of hormone levels. Am I right?

Yeah. Pretty sure she told him that she had an abortion when she was a student, and it resulted in her not being able to have kids.
