W’s original drama Flack will premiere on Thursday February 21st at 10pm.
Created by Oliver Lansley, Flack follows an American PR executive living in London. Robyn (Anna Paquin) is a sharp and witty publicity maven, who’s an expert at her craft but a complete self-saboteur when it comes to her personal life.
The six episode series, which is a co-production with US network Pop, stars Anna Paquin, Sophie Okonedo, Marc Warren, Lydia Wilson, Genevieve Angelson, Rebecca Benson, Arinzé Kene, Rufus Jones, Max Beesley and Rebecca Root.
(Miranda/Geoffers - not sure if this is a subs channel or not. Please feel free to move it.)

Yes it is a subscription channel, one of UKTV's non-freeview ones.
Apparently this is the first drama commission for the W channel and the first US co-production for UKTV. I've looked at the trailer and can't say this is one I'll be making much effort to watch, despite the interesting cast.

OK, I have now decided to watch episode 1 and don't quite know what to make of it. I'm obviously way outside the target demographic for the show, which on another channel would be on BBC3 or E4. It's full of sex and swearing, and yet there's something more serious at the heart of the outrageous and superficially lightweight characters which makes me want to watch another episode.
Sophie Okonedo is a revelation - I've never seen her in a part remotely like this one.

I gave up half way through episode 2. It's aimed at someone two generations below me. Even if they were talking at a quarter the speed I still wouldn't understand 75% of what they were saying.
Sorry Sophie Okonedo - I love you but you're not enough to keep me watching this.

The PR drama has cast Sam Neill (Jurassic Park, Tutankhamun) and Daniel Dae Kim (Hawaii Five-0, Lost) for recurring roles in its just ordered six episode second season.

The series 1 box set is now available (free) on UKTV Play - presumably because series 2 is expected on W next month. Not that I'll be watching.
