We went to see this in Richmond yesterday and it was good, if a bit creaky. But it was quite well staged and went at a good pace. The big names were Juliet Mills as Miss Troy and Maxwell Caulfield as the doctor, but I thought the best performances came from Lorna Fitzgerald as Iris and the chap playing Max. I was very surprised at how clearly I could hear Lorna, aka Abi from EastEnders in this big theatre, much clearer than Juliet Mills that's for sure and the two young actors had by far the biggest roles but are not the named leads (Or bow takers!). I also liked the two guys playing the cricket mad Englishmen which surprised me as I find them a totally laugh free zone in the 1935 film. There is an extremely loud gunfight in the second act: I jumped in my seat several times.
So it's not the best, but it is well done and if you don't have to pay the earth it is a good way to spend a Winter afternoon!

Did they do the version set on the train?

Yes. It starts off in the station, very Nazi! Then they very quickly pull out some set and it is the train carriage compartments with the corridor at the front of the stage and pushed them back when in the luggage van. Very smoothly done in fact.
I saw Strangers on a Train there some time ago and that was quite niftily done as well.
