But strictly speaking, that's not a new album. It's just a re-issue of old songs. Oh dear, another corpse being bled dry by the record company.....

I don't know much about his music, Even though I had friends who would bring his LPs to school to play in the classroom over lunch, on a record player which had been supplied by our maths teacher (who was also our registration teacher).

It's not quite a new issue of old songs. "The Gouster" was an album that Bowie and Visconti made but was never released. It was a funk/soul recording session, including the reworking of "John I'm Only Dancing" (with the "Again" added, which was eventually released, as a single, much later). What eventually came out, of "The Gouster", was the LP "Young Americans".
The box set is part of a phased release of all of Bowie's LPs, singles, demos, live, unreleased material, etc, remastered, much of which was never released on CD, let alone digitally, before and is coming in five tranches, starting last year with "Five Years 1969 - 1973", and so on. Can also all be bought on vinyl.
