Year of the Rabbit starts on Monday 10th June in C4.
"Year of the Rabbit follows a group of Victorian detectives including Detective Inspector Rabbitt, a hardened booze-hound who’s seen it all, and his new, hapless, by-the-books partner. While investigating a local murder, the chief of police's lewd but insightful adoptive daughter becomes the country's first female officer. Together, the trio must fight crime while rubbing shoulders with street gangs, crooked politicians, Bulgarian princes, spiritualists, music hall stars and the Elephant Man."
It stars Matt Berry, Freddie Fox, Keeley Hawes, Sally Phillips, Jill Halfpenny, Ann Mitchell and Paul's Kaye.

I hadn't heard of this! It's a new comedy drama series of 6 30-minute episodes, airing at 10.00 pm. Alun Armstrong is also in the cast. Will definitely give it a go.

Keeley Hawes is certainly popular.

OMG, this was so good. I laughed my head off from start to finish. The opening being Rabbit interrogating a man only for it to turn out to be a teacher in front of his class. The Merrick scenes were brilliant, the bit where he said he'd have a garden salad but changed his mind because it was a cheat day, "Jam squares", the maid brings them out only for a disgusted Merrick to say "Blackcurrant? What the hell have you done?" "You can stare all you like but it'll cost you thruppence. Merrick don't freak for free."
"I know this gaff, it's one of them peep holes. A peep hole, a tom shop, knock knock hide your c**k, somewhere you go to see a bit of Jack and Danny, maybe a broom handle if it tickles you pickles."
Alum Armstrong is brilliant in this aswell.
I do hope this wasn't a fluke and the whole series is this good.

Well I'm only half with you there, prof. I thought it was quite funny but I think I was hoping for another What We Do In The Shadows and I didnt find it as good as that. I shall stick with it but it just didnt find it brilliant.

It didn't do much for me, if I'm honest, but I'll try one more.

I enjoyed it! A cross between Ripper Street and Naked Gun. The little girl selling everything from fog to mud and lungs was classic.
And Alun Armstrong and his daughter who wants to be a female cop.
"When you adopted me you said you wanted the very best for me" "I was thinking mainly of hats...."
Looks like the whole cast is having a ball. Great fun.

I was a bit taken aback to start with by the almost continuous very bad language from pretty much every character.
I did get acclimatised after a while, and then found it quite funny - mostly not laugh-out-loud stuff, but entertaining enough to keep with it. I'm not sure whether the humour - often derived from exaggerating modern reactions and back-planting them in the Victorian era - will endure over 6 episodes. We'll see.

It's when she swears and all the men tell her off! The face she pulls. That made me laugh. And the really bad porn with the fake Swedish accents!

I enjoyed it too, and agree it's a cross between Ripper Street and Naked Gun. I like anything Matt Berry is in anyway. Looking forward to tonight's episode.

Good second episode. Loved the legend of the Brick Man. "He is made of bricks, he wears a suit of bricks, his face is made of bricks and if you don't believe in him he will slaughter you with his brick knife" Pause. "It's something for the kiddies." Ask Me About Bicycle Theft. Rent-a-mob.
