I don't remember. I can see him but I'm useless at remembering names.

This was good watching. I saw them all, although I haven't caught up on the celeb one yet. Fascinating at the end (I believe they've said there will be no more of them) to see that yes, "Show me the 7 year old, and I'll give you the man" -- often quoted on this programme, and yes again -- it appears to be true!! They were all just as they were when 7 year olds.

Have they actually decided? I thought when asked about 70Up there was a vague sort of 'we'll see' reply?
I suppose you have to be aware of possible illness etc, even though 70 is no age?!
I enjoyed seeing Paul and Symon + families so obviously good friends, I wish we'd seen more of John earlier (his own choice not to take part for a while of course) and I wish Neil a happy life in his house in France.... my spirits soared when he mentioned a wife, and then...

I think it's not so much their age but Michael Apted's. He must be getting on himself.

Lovely programme. Fascinating to see how they have got on. My favourite has always been cheeky Tony.

I think what I noticed was how, as in the rest of the nation, a lot of them had mellowed and seemed more content now they were in their 60s. Most were semi retired, or still working because 60-65 is no longer a feasible retirement age, but without the pressures of promotion or redundancy to cope with, apart from the QC who mentioned that a lot of his sources of work (retiring instructing solicitors) were disappearing. Most of them were still in long term relationships and had less to argue about, more shared interests and were financially coping. Obviously, and as expected, there has been continuing (Neil) or new struggles with ill health, but it seems to have been balanced by the pleasures of family life. I was a bit surprised that so few were single, unwillingly unemployed or sick as the combination of the those factors makes things harder as they get into their 60s.
All in all, it feels as if this socially diverse group has moved a bit closer together, as they are seen reflecting on how relationships and health are now more important than occupations, ambitions and money.
This might be the end as Michael Apted is now 77 and a few more might not be with us in 7 years time. It feels like the right time to stop. But what do I know? I’m 68, but I might feel differently in 2026....... let’s hope it’s not like Years and Years.

I think the main thing it has demonstrated is that the rigid class system that held sway when these people and the rest of us who were born, say, twenty years and more before the Millennium has become a lot more blurred around the edges and is seen as less important than it was.
