They did this not so long ago on Pick, I think it was, and I watched them all. Great stuff!

One of the things I always respected about House was that the writers saw fit to include an ongoing subplot about House having an opioid addiction.
It showed that even a doctor, a brilliant doctor at that, could succumb to an opioid addiction when dealing with chronic pain.

I never got into it. Every time I try, I end up wanting to throw a shoe at the screen.

I enjoyed it at first but after a while it just became a series of tortures for the poor sods he was supposed to be diagnosing. Ethics committees would have coniptions in real life.

I think in that regard as well it was a fairly accurate representation of how the egos of doctors lead them to be so assured in their original diagnosis. As you say, each new patient had to undergo a series of (sometimes invasive) testing because he was so rock solid certain in his initial diagnosis. When that turned out to be wrong, he would go to plan B, plan C, plan D.
And he often wasn't all that open to the opinions/input of his team members. That is often also true to life of doctors who are stubborn in their own opinions.
I guess that portrayal of this type of powerful doctor was better than candy coating him as being this amazing doctor with a terrific bedside manner who always got it right the first time.
Yes, he was a brilliant doctor. But also deeply flawed. And not very nice to pretty much anyone. LOL

Some of the funniest moments were when they became flat mates. A real "odd couple." LOL

It always make me laugh when medical shows have the women working in very high heels. Given the amount of standing around and walking about doctors in hospitals do, there's no way they would be wearing 4 inch heels!
