Feel sorry for Scotland though. There was some dodgy umpiring in that game.

I love the Zims! That was one of the best goodbyes in sport. Fantastic stuff! And they finished 8th in their first World Cup!

It did! That was a cracking game!
Bad luck to the Roses but the Ferns were really good. England played well though.
Now for the final. If the last game between Aus and NZ was any indication, it should be a great game.

Just watching the bronze medal match and I notice again that the commentators seem to talk round the match rather than say what is going on. Compared to football matches, where they leave all this type of talk to the break. I can't get used to it because you can hear the umpire giving all these comments and rulings but no explanation is given. I know it might be obvious, but in football they always say free kick, foul or whatever. Well they used to, not that I watch very often!
Also, our goal attack doesn't seem very happy again today! Are there issues? Or is that just her natural demeanour? Oh, a video has started and she seems chirpier!
I wanted to watch the diving but that doesn't seem to be on iplayer. Was it on Sky?
PS I just found a highlights show on iplayer which will have to do. They didn't mention Tom Daley's solo competition in the intro.... I know it went pretty badly so perhaps they aren't including it!

Marion, I tried to tune out all the irrelevant chit-chat - the game is too fast for commentary really. I could hear the umpires' calls .... Free Shot, Free Pass, Contact Wing Defence, etc. but found the commentators way too intrusive. Hazel Irvine's negative interview with Guthrie, the England captain, got short shrift in a polite manner. Am a bit of a netball nerd, I'm afraid. Started playing in the school team at age 7 then every year at both schools, played for my town and was a county reserve. Then went on to play for the company I worked for and then for my husband's company when we moved. Started off as Goal Defence then moved to Goal Attack although am only 5ft 3". Loved it but could never have kept up with the speed of the country teams. My goodness, they were brilliant. Don't recall rolling the ball being allowed or passing at knee height although we could bounce it. Also couldn't drop and retrieve. Saw a lot of "stepping" in the Australian team and sliding on the pivoting foot. Naughty. But have so enjoyed this tournament, so refreshing. Girls falling or slipping over just got up and carried on - no drama. And fast paced. I just hope the BBC garner the televised rights to more tournaments before SKY get a hold of it. Even my husband enjoyed it once he knew the rules and zones for each player. Yes, a really enjoyable fortnight. Following on from Wimbledon, it was an embarrassment of riches .

It must be odd for Denise Lewis to not be the tallest woman in the room.

I really enjoyed the final. It was an all action affair and a better match than the bronze play off I thought. Also, the commentators were a lot better IMHO.
