Channel 4 have set the core cast for The Tiger Who Came To Tea.
Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock), Tamsin Greig (Episodes) David Oyelowo (Les Miserables) David Walliams (Little Britain), Paul Whitehouse (Mortimer And Whitehouse: Gone Fishing) and newcomer Clara Ross are set to star in the animated Judith Kerr adaptation.
The Tiger Who Came to Tea tells the delightful story of what happens when the doorbell rings just as Sophie and her Mummy are sitting down to tea in the kitchen. Confronted with a very unexpected guest – a big, furry, stripy tiger – they invite him inside where he proceeds to eat everything in sight before making a timely exit, just before Daddy gets home.
Benedict Cumberbatch has been cast as Daddy; Tamsin Greig as Mummy; David Oyelowo as the Tiger; David Walliams as the Narrator; Paul Whitehouse as Milkman; and Clara Ross as Sophie.
The half-hour special is set to air this Christmas.

It was delightful, as promised. Have kept our recording, to show to our granddaughter when she visits.

It was charming indeed. Also well worth a look is The Snail and The Whale which I thought was even nicer. It should still be on BBC iplayer.
