New sci-fi starring Katee Sackhoff from nuBSG. I've just binged the first 3 and it's pretty good even though the crises don't let up for a moment.
It has two story strands with Sackhoff playing the commander of a space ship and her husband, a scientist back on Earth with their daughter, trying to communicate with an alien ship that has landed in America. The bit in space is a fight to stay alive, the bit on Earth is all politics and media. So it's interesting to watch the two in parallel.
