Eleven celebrities are training for a relay swim across the Channel, (and some can't swim.)
Includes the Last Leg's Alex Brooker who has all sorts of mobility problems.
This may not end well, but it will be good seeing them trying.
It is on at 9.30 on Tuesday Ch4,so expect some fruity language no doubt, lots of frustration as they give it a go.
There are 4 programmes in the series,l think we would have heard about the attempt if it had happened, so presumably that is still to come.

The training is really tough, and those that struggle is a surprise.
Alex Brooker will make you weep and laugh at the same time, for so many reasons
Can recommend.

I watched this and admired their bravery. I know exactly what a couple of them were saying when they said they couldn't breathe because of the cold cos that's what happens to me. I also get nervous when I'm in the open sea and can't touch the bottom!

I am so impressed with Alex Brooker. I really filled up when he said it made him feel disabled. Fair play to him for finishing it.
Arg I could give a bit of a slap though. I don't whether that lazy sarky attitude is covering up a lot of self-loathing but honestly, if it isn't he needs to wake up to himself.

Episode 2 ,and the going gets tough, Alex might not make it but the surprising one for me is Arg.He doesn't give up,despite being way overweight, and even had a go at those who did not improve.Love him or think just pointless celeb, he is doing his best to overcome everything.
Sad cancer story, and now you know why this important.

It's all getting a bit too melodramatic for me. And that's not the fault of the slebs but of the editing.

Not been watching. Just from the trailers, it all seemed so artificial, and its probably so difficult that the participants are set up to fail. But then, the producers are happy because it makes for dramatic viewing!

I admire what the celebs are doing. Some of them are really suffering. Tessa Sanderson was nearly drowning while trying to carry on. Arg seems to have realised what made him give up and then got on with it.
Having been treated for cancer myself, which was found at a very early stage so treatment wasn't as dramatic as it is for many, had my father die of lung cancer, and my brother-in-law of a brain tumour, any support for cancer research and treatment is esssential because it's achieving results. What those celebs have been doing takes real guts and makes my MacMillan coffee morning look totally pathetic

Well didn't end as hoped so near, yet so far.
But they did really well to achieve what they did,and there will be other opportunities.
For someone who can barely swim a width, without a lot of flapping,am in awe.

Yes, they did brilliantly. I didn't realise there were so many rules about swimming the channel, but I suppose there has to be as it's such a busy shipping lane, and the can't allow just anyone to wade into the water alone and try it - there'd bound to be some idiots who would try.
Can't imagine swimming in open water, even though I'm a reasonable swimmer - or was. Haven't done it for a while. I'm in awe of all of them and hope they raised loads.
