Showtime’s drama series City On A Hill will receive its UK premiere on Sky Atlantic on Wednesday September 18th at 9pm.
City On A Hill is set in early 1990s Boston, rife with violent criminals emboldened by local law enforcement agencies in which corruption and racism was the norm.
In this fictional account, driving change is assistant district attorney Decourcy Ward, who comes from Brooklyn and forms an unlikely alliance with a corrupt yet venerated FBI veteran, Jackie Rohr. Together, they take on a family of armored car robbers from Charlestown in a case that grows to involve, and ultimately subvert, the entire criminal justice system of Boston.
The drama series, which was created by Chuck MacLean, stars Kevin Bacon (The Following), Aldis Hodge (Underground), Jonathan Tucker (Kingdom), Mark O’Brien (Halt And Catch Fire), Lauren E. Banks (Instinct), Amanda Clayton (Tyler Perry’s If Loving You Is Wrong), Jere Shea (Passion), Kevin Chapman (Brotherhood) and Jill Hennessy (Crossing Jordan).
Guest stars include Sarah Shahi (Fairly Legal), Kevin Dunn (Veep), Rory Culkin, Georgina Reilly, Gloria Reuben (ER), James Remar (Dexter), Dean Winters (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) and Samantha Soule (Godless).

I saw series one here in the states. Its a good show. It will remind some of "The Wire" and there are some issues with local accents references to local events, customs, etc. that might cause some viewers to use the subtitles and/or rewind bits.
Kevin Bacon plays slime-ball characters quite well and is on his game here.
Really nice to see Jill Hennessy again too.

I remember similar issues with The Wire for a lot of people here. The Bullimore accent was hard to get your ears around at first. But the BBC showed it every weeknight for all 5 series so we pretty quickly got used to it. It wasn't like we had to wait a week to hear it again.

Then you will definitely recognize some faces from other HBO series including The Wire and OZ in supporting roles.

We watched about 10 minutes of this but couldn't cope with the use of the F word so much. Maybe people do talk like that but it put us off.

Yeah, Reagan era Boston, cops, criminals and concubines...the expletives are gonna fly.
