Jason Donovan, Sally Lindsay, Joanna Page, Ambreen Razia, John Macmillan, Sheila Reid, Georgie Glen, Annette Crosbie, Phil Davis, Mike Wozniak, Selina Griffiths and Jason Forbes have all signed on to star opposite Johnny Vegas and Sian Gibson in the feature-length follow up to both Murder On The Blackpool Express and Death On The Tyne.
Dial M For Middlesbrough sees Gemma (Sian Gibson) and Terry (Johnny Vegas) thrown into jeopardy when their coach breaks down in the middle of a fierce thunderstorm whilst they’re on their way to collect Mildred and Hilda and take them to a funeral in Middlesbrough. They are forced to seek refuge in Shady Creek Caravan Park, a mysterious place that seems to strike a particular terror in an unusually jumpy Gemma.
Jason Donovan has been cast as Shady Creek Caravan Park’s Events Manager Darren; Sally Lindsay as site owner Evie; Joanna Page as the site’s chef Susan; Ambreen Razia as Penny, a holiday prize-winner; John Macmillan as American tourist Chad; Sheila Reid as Mildred; Georgie Glen as Hilda; Annette Crosbie as long-term park resident Edna; Phil Davis as fellow site owner Jed; Mike Wozniak as birdwatcher Neil; Selina Griffiths as fellow birdwatcher Mary; and Jason Forbes as Phil, a holiday prize-winner.
Dial M For Middlesbrough is expected to premiere on Gold in December.

I didn't think the second one, set on a ferry, was as good as the first. They seem to be back on dry land for this one so hopefully it'll be on form again.

I wonder if newer generation viewers will get the title being a reference to the 1950s Grace Kelly film or moreso that back before fax machines and mobile phones there were a LOT less telephone numbers needed and a specific area code for a certain city would be just one number. So dial M (or 6 on your phone) for the area code for an entire metro area became common use for advertising. When I was a kid ours was TE (83) so when you would give your mates your telephone number you might say "Dial TE2-3445" not that it really made it any easier than saying 832-3445 but everyone did it. It seemed cool at the time.
But I think that ended sometime in the mid 70s when area codes became three digits and covered much smaller areas.

I think the title will appeal to older viewers and it being Johnny Vegas will attract under-40s.

John Macmillan as American tourist Chad If anything sinister happens to that fellow he could wind-up a "hanging chad"

Well, I am sorry to say I didn't enjoy this. Waited for 15 minutes for a laugh, gave it another 15 and then gave up. I really think they should have stopped after the first one which was funny.
