I totally disagree. Especially about him and Agnew. I like Aggers but Boycott is rude and dismissive of him. You can tell they don't like each other much and it often gets uncomfortable, like being present at a public domestic. Boycott is alright when he's in a good mood and just talking about cricket but when he's got his arse in his hand, which is more and more often as he's getting older, he's a pain to listen to. When I was still listening to TMS, I used to mute his bit.

And I totally disagree with Miranda! (one reason this board is so brilliant and addictive is how different we all are ) Aggers and Geoffrey do tours together of An Evening with... don't they? Or they did, maybe not now GB's health isn't so good? The spiky attitude between them is an act, You Tube clips of some of their exchanges show that, I'm sure He is definitely a Marmite commentator... when he first started my heart sank, I expected a Fred Trueman part 2, now he was a pain, but he has interesting stuff to say. And although he, and all the others, have never had to pay to watch a Test Match, he is the only one to say 'What about the people who have paid a lot of money to see this and have been shortchanged?' (sadly usually after an England collapse ) I turn off when it's Alison Mitchell commentating. As I said, we're all different!

Well, if it's an act I don't like it. It distracts from the cricket and makes me uncomfortable to listen to it. It's one of the reasons I gave up TMS altogether.

No!! Don't give up on TMS, Miranda
That means you've missed, this season, Jimmy Anderson, Alastair Cook, Glenn McGrath and Isa Guha. The last two had a truly riveting conversation about fast bowling and its similarities and differences between the men's and women's game.
Jimmy and Alistair obviously had lots of relevant stuff to say and I will always remember Alistair's reactions as 'Stokes Day' unrolled at Headingly!
And then there was Jim Maxwell... my favourite Aussie voice... Do you mean you missed the comic saga re Jim and the Shipping Forecast??
Yes I know this should be on the Ashes thread... I'll stop now and just echo HoraceC's lament that the series is over...

Sleepy P brings back memories of a great year's commentating - not sure how this family will cope without their prolonged engagement with cricket. People making off to the garden when wickets fell too quickly, informing of improved performance - to cheer up the depressed and all lasting so long - rather like the waiting room in the maternity wing...… either side of the door. As for our sofa observations, the ten year old who plays for a County team had a pithy remark about some women's bowling that no one knew quite how to respond to. it was not intended to be sexist and he was also technically right - we had not heard that informed dialogue exchange at the time. Football lacks all this finesse in the box - or so it seems
