It seems that Michael Johnson described athletics chief Sebastian Coe as “full of s***” — not realising he was transmitting live. He had been talking about the choice of location. Johnson said that the event had been “extremely expensive” for the teams and added: “You’ve got to hold your marathon at midnight and put athletes under hell.” ..yep...questions have to be asked..

Wot? As in a rear view of the athletes as they settle in the blocks? Which perv came up with that idea? And which perv allowed it? Dear god.... glad I haven't seen that. Haven't seen anything like that, they have shown athlete's faces waiting for the start in a weird close-up.

Yes the close ups from the starting block are horrible. I also wonder what the locals think some of the more skimpy kits!

The attendance is often discussed and they are now giving out free tickets apparently just to fill seats.
Isnt this the location for the next World Cup,and heat often comes as just not being ideal,to say the least.

Yes, and there are serious questions about how that came about, too.

One of the problems for the locals is that the women can't attend alone and neither the men or the women can watch people in such skimpy outfits comfortably together. In order for the locals to participate they would have had to have a women's day and mans day, but then women taking part in sport is not promoted at all. I presume they thought loads of tourists would come over.
I don't think anyone is fooled by the idea that these events are 'bought', we all know they are.
Yes I did see a crotch shot on Euro TV of athletes waiting to take off from the blocks and another up the nose camera angle of some poor woman, the pole vaulting was bad enough! Thank goodness they're not doing gymnastics!!

Broadcasters should have put in official complaints about the camera shots.

The problem is once the short is taken it can be broadcast all over the world on social media and TV platforms. If it was me I would have put some chewing gum over the camera lens or something.

When you hear about all of these problems at global sport events, it makes more and more sense to just choose a half-dozen locations that have proven track records for hosting such large scale events and just rotate.
The idea of giving bids to emerging sport nations is nice, but it winds-up leading to allegations of payoffs during the bidding process, giving events to countries who lack the infrastructure to make it happen, or have cultural nuances that don't allow for the mixing of genders at the events - either competing or viewing - problems with weather extremes or building stadia that wind-up deserted and in disrepair in a few years.
Yes it might be boring to rotate between London-Beijing-Los Angeles-Tokyo-Sydney-Moscow or perhaps some others in the mix.
These places have show in the past they can pull it off and also put butts in the seats. Another problems at some first time hosts.

Rotate it between continents with any benefit being spread across the continent.

Sebastian Coe, the IAAF president, has admonished the BBC and its presenter Gabby Logan following criticism of the World Athletics Championships on the broadcaster’s coverage.
The competition has been watched by a perpetually half-empty Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, and the decision to bring it to Qatar has come under scrutiny. BBC pundit Denise Lewis said “the governing body has let our athletes down”, while her colleague Michael Johnson was caught off camera telling Logan that Coe was “full of shit”.
Idiot.
