It's getting to the point where if you can stay on the pommel horse you'll get a medal.

I didnt see the men's all round but watched the rest. I dont think I have ever seen so many falls during a competition in my life! You could tell that like the skaters they were not fully competition-ready. Some good results for the Uk though and I enjoyed watching it all.

I think it's a changing of the guard in British gymnastics this year. The young uns did themselves proud.

Some good results for the Uk though and I enjoyed watching it all. Did you know we won a medal in all but one of the apparatus finals we were in? That's some bloody good going.

The 2021 World Championships are on next week, and there is some TV coverage. I have found it on BBC2 at 15.00-16.45 on Thursday (Women’s all round) and on Friday (Men’s all round). I cannot yet see any main channel for the apparatus finals on Saturday or Sunday. There is also red button coverage: Thursday 09.55 & 20.55 Friday 09.55 & 21.45 Saturday 08.05 Sunday not yet up.

Nice one! I shall keep a look out on iPlayer as it oftens show more than the live stuff.

Just watching the women's all-around. I don't know if it's me but I'm finding it quite flat. There's quite a few falling off the bars, the floor routines are a bit meh, and the camera angles aren't great.
I might stop and watch it tomorrow. I am feeling a bit tired and might head for bed.

I rather enjoyed it so far. There is a distinct change of atmosphere, no medal mania and fewer “names”, but although that has meant more errors I have liked the general feeling. I have watched all the women’s but did FF through some of the men’s as I don’t like the rings for example.
Re the camera angles, I thought the pommel horse one was really peculiar. I began to feel a bit queasy at one point.

I've worked out why I was unsettled watching the other day. It's because it's in Japan. The audience of anything there don't cheer, they just applaud. So it's very quiet and then loads of clapping. Which I'm not used to at gymnastics. But I've told myself to sort my head out and stop being a snowflake and I'm enjoying it more now.
I don't know if it's cos of the pandemic or my age or what but I've noticed I'm a lot less adaptable to change then I used to be not that long ago. Bit unsettling.

Just watched Ruby Stacey for the first time. I wasn't expecting much from her floor routine as her first rotation only scored a 12. But it was very good! So I'm guessing she fell off whatever it was she did first.....

Amazing floor routine from the Roumanian gymnast! Glad to see they are getting back to their best.

I was so upset for Uchimura at the Olympics that I'm really glad the last time I was able to see him was a much better routine that he completed cleanly. It might not have got anywhere near a medal but I'm happy for him that he could finish on a high.

Fascinating look at how much gymnastics has developed in 70 years
