The full YouTube playlist is here: SuspenseOne of the premier drama programs of the Golden Age of Radio, was subtitled "radio's outstanding theater of thrills" and focused on suspense thriller-type scripts, usually featuring leading Hollywood actors of the era. Approximately 945 episodes were broadcast during its long run, and more than 900 still exist. Suspense went through several major phases, characterized by different hosts, sponsors, and director/producers. Formula plot devices were followed for all but a handful of episodes: the protagonist was usually a normal person suddenly dropped into a threatening or bizarre situation; solutions were "withheld until the last possible second"; and evildoers were usually punished in the end. In its early years, the program made only occasional forays into science fiction and fantasy. Notable exceptions include adaptations of Curt Siodmak's Donovan's Brain and H. P. Lovecraft's "The Dunwich Horror", but by the late 1950s, such material was regularly featured. Episode 1 is here:

Suspense was the best of the best. And A-list Hollywood stars queued up to guest star.
And often it was stars of comedy - like Jack Benny, Lucille Ball, Bob Hope - who wanted to take a turn at playing hard drama on suspense.
Probably my favorite episode was "Sorry Wrong Number" with a bravo performance by Agnes Moorehead.
Another super scary episode was "The Hitcher" which featured a guest spot by Orson Welles.

I know with a lot of the old radio shows they were done live on the air. With the exception of shows recorded on tape to be sent to Armed Forces Radio for broadcast to troops overseas.
With the different time zones in the US it was common for a Show like "Suspense" to broadcast an episode live to the East Coast and Central time zones with one cast, then several hours later air another live broadcast for the Mountain and West Coast time zones with another.
So that is why when searching for archives you might find two versions of "Sorry Wrong Number" that were broadcast on the same day but with different casts.
