Love Dave Allen's observational humor.
PBS used to run "Dave Allen at Large" back in the 70s and early 80's and he reminded me very much of Vegas lounge comedians here in the US that would smoke, sip whiskey whilst doing terrific, adult, observational humor.
The little filmed skits that were mixed in were ok, but I felt he was best suited just holding court to a live audience.

We adored him: he was shocking at the time, saying things that no one else dared to. But so true!
I wept when he died, but probably for myself as we wouldn't ever see him again.

I was very upset when Dave Allen died. He went before his time, and he was so dry.

Used to make jokes about the Catholic Church, although he was a Catholic, the Pope didn't get off lightly either. A great comedian.

I am so glad that I bought all the videos that were released … and that I transferred them to DVD before some were rereleased as DVDs … Dave Allen was always and will always be my favourite stand up (or sit down) comedian.
