R3 is doing a series of essays by modern writers on classic novels that were open-ended. The first was Lord of the Flies, with Ian Rankin imagining what might have happened in later life to Ralph, Jack and Roger. It was interesting, but unfortunately whoever edited it for Sounds made a hash of it, as it starts about 5 mins into the 18-minute slot and consequently the ending is chopped off. In the good old days of Iplayer Radio this would not have happened as you heard the programme as broadcast. Now, unless it's repeated, there is no hope of hearing the ending.

Another Radio 3 boo boo, this time Private Passions which I usually download to listen to at my leisure. I happened to hear a bit of today's episode live, which should have been Ben Watt but instead was a repeat of Steve Rosenberg, which was broadcast only a few weeks ago. No explanation, no nothing. I wonder if anyone at R3 is awake?
