I don’t usually watch this but found it quite enjoyable last night. I think lockdown and the miserable weather might be part of the reason for that. I felt unusually fed up over the weekend so this had a bit of a Strictly effect!

I enjoyed it, I usually do though.

I watched for the first time too, the advert breaks are incredibly annoying. Everyone did better than I thought but I guess they have had 10 weeks of training - how many hours, I have no idea. Not sure I'll watch again. It just stops and starts with all the ads.

I think once you get the first two weeks done with all the introductions and how the partners met it gets a lot better. I agree about the Strictly effect, it is something to cheer you up on a cold January weekend!

One thing that did annoy me was the noise from the audience. That was one reason why I stopped watching the show. They said there were just competitors and crew watching but it sounded like a full arena to me! That was unlike SCD where the quieter audience was very noticeable... and very welcome IMO.

I wonder if they were told to shout as loud as possible

The contestants seem to be doing very well this year. I haven’t watched it for years so maybe things have some on apace since the earlier series. I felt sorry for the newbie this week. It must be tough to come in as a reserve four weeks in, when everyone else has had a chance to perfect at least some skills. I also liked the routine by Chris and Jayne with the junior dancers.

They must have a crew of about 500 to make that kind of noise. Only caught the end and thought the same, the reserve skater should have had a free run into next week.

Dancing on Ice is having a break week next Sunday due to injuries, and I presume too many people have left already so to have one person voted off per week they will have too many weeks left to make a viable final. Sunday will be a “best of” compilation.

Also Hamish, the pro who partners Faye (Will and Kate last week), has had to leave as he broke his finger when he was taking his sock off. He will be replaced by Matt Evers. It’s one thing after another isn’t it? And Strictly went so smoothly by comparison!
