Bill Kenwright is behind productions by The Agatha Christie Co, The Classic Thriller Co and The Classic Screen to Stage Co. This is the debut of his Classic Comedy Theatre Co. Personally I think he could have found a better play than this, which isn't even the best Ayckbourn I have seen, but it was quite good and we all had a good laugh. It concerns the committee, led by a rather pompous chairman played by Robert Dawes very much in the Ian Beale style, of a pageant in a market town called Pendon and the splits which occur as they try to mount the story of 12 local agricultural martyrs. I don't know who else was in it except for Deborah Grant, the chairman's wife and by far the most audible actor of them all. Well done her!
It is worth going if it is local and cheap but I wouldn't seek it out.
