I was advised earlier to download (upload?) a 'generic RSS reader' in order to get access to a particular set of 'lost' pages from a closed message board: "Can I suggest that if you want to view the pages, all the text is still there. Google about how you can apply RSS to web pages. There are little files you can upload so that you can still read it."
On Googling, I ended up more confused than normal...there's lots of them to choose from, the free ones are what I'm interested in, does anybody have any experience/recommendations?
Thanks in advance
Signed, A. Technowally

I wish! Why do techy things have to be so complicated - c'mon you geeks, need your assistance here..

What do you want it for?
I asked a couple of years ago about RSS and what it meant, elsewhere, nobody could explain.
Gave up bothering and wondering

Hi Geoff, I want it because I've been told that's how to read the pages not available through 'normal' viewing...I don't have a clue how it works, just trying to follow the advice given as detailed in my OP!

When l don't how to do techy stuff,l fiddle about it,and that is how l pick it up.
So fiddle, and see what happens, you can't break it (probably)

I just clicked on the RSS feed link in the Info Box and it looks like code. So I'm assuming the reader is for that?

Info Box? I don't even know what/where that is Perhaps I'll go back and ask for further info from the person who told me about this RSS stuff in the first place

The Info Box is the one above the Shoutbox that contains the names of the members online and the calendar events. Amongst other things.

PS - I've just received an e-mail saying they didn't mean RSS, they meant CSS (cascading style sheet, whatever that is) So this thread is somewhat redundant Miranda/Geoffers, feel free to close it or whatever - I think I need a lie-down
