The first series of this was excellent. I reckon this will be too.

Delighted this is returning. Wonderful, moving and often funny look at life with a child who has extreme learning difficulties.

Does it always switch back and forth in time like that? I found it quite distracting.

Yes, the first series was also in 2 timelines, this series is also in both timelines, but one year on.

You get used to it - the year the action takes place is clearly marked.
The child playing Rosie is incredible. There are LOL moments and ones of pure despair. David Tennants character - who deals with the situation with jokes, sarcasm and wine/ciggies - is both annoying and sympathetic.

This should be good.

Very moving - and funny - one off drama. The dilemmas increase for parents of such children as the child grows up. Respite/residential care are often the only safe options.
I did wonder about the mother wanting a 3rd child. I would be worried that Rosie would harm a baby!

These children very rarely harm a baby. They either completely ignore them or are very loving and caring. We have a young man at college who can tear the place apart and regularly hits his mum and dad, but he looks after his little brother and sister very well and has never shown any aggressive behaviour towards them. He can show extreme patience with them.....but not with us.
We have one man who would scream at babies or small children if he wasn't redirected by staff. He can't use a bus as that causes him and any children way too much stress. He would not be safe with a small child. He's never hit one but nobody is going to chance it.

But you cannot tell how they will react, can you Beverley? I did not mean that Rosie would deliberately harm a child, but as such children grow stronger the physical damage they can do escalates.
I thought it was wonderful when the big brother said that Rosie would live with him when their parents were gone.

Yes, I thought this was a lovely little drama, and despite the lighthearted look at the very serious issues they are face, I think it was handled very sensitively.

It was very good.
Interestingly the ending revealed that the other family they met up with, who introduced themselves as number "385", was actually the real-life family "414" on which the programme is based.
