Since I can't remember the last time I watched ITV, I tend to agree.

Toggy was writing from the future. It happens. Sometimes with embarrassing results.
I'm not sure that anyone is trying to bully, enforce, or is, even, assuming that everyone is a sports fanatic. ITV's gesture aside, there should probably be a "sports day", to encourage everyone that wants to take part, at least every month. For those not so minded, and likely to be watching TV at 9:30 on the one Saturday in the year (decade, century, millennium) this is happening, well there are plenty of other channels.

Oh, I thought it was Saturday just gone. Never mind, I'm sure nobody will notice this Saturday either.

It's perfectly possible to do all that just by going for a walk, without trying to coerce people into doing pointless sports.

It is just an intitative, don't think anyone will come knocking and dragging you down the road kicking and screaming. If it gets a few through doors ,then job done. And sport is not pointless.

I've always considered competitive sports totally pointless. I can't see any entertainment value in watching other people running around a field (it's hardly intellectually stimulating), and actually playing sports yourself seems to me to be just clinging on to the whole "nyah, nyah, I'm better than you" rubbish we should have outgrown by the time we leave primary school.

Ok, getting a little close to the 'polite and civil' boundary there, Tony. Back up a bit, please.

I am afraid Tony that on this we will never agree. Millions watched the Olympics worldwide, thousands go to sporting events every day, thousands take an active part everday. If you told them it was pointless they would take that as insult. Everyone is different some think watching soaps and science fiction a waste of time and would rather be outside. Ok
