I want to see The Post but Meryl Streep is putting me off, not the greatest fan. I do like press/media films, I really like The Paper by Ron Howard with Michael Keaton.

She has always irritated me ... apparently she's been nominated for an Oscar for this

Yeah she has, and the film's been nominated but Speilberg hasn't or Hanks.
Christopher Plummers been nominated for All The Money In The World. Spacey hears what you could have won...if you'd kept your hand to yourself!

I like a good newspaper movie too. Looking forward to The Post. Thanks is such a good actor; I mean you know it's him, but he always makes you forget him, and see the character. Charlie Wilson, Captain Philips, Bridge of Spies - he's just brilliant.
I am halfway through Spotlight, starring among others Mark Ruffalo, another terrific actor.

Spotlights very good, I like Mark Ruffalo so you shouldn't be disappointed. Try The Paper, it also has Marisa Tomai (so?) Robert Duvell and Glenn Close besides Michael Keaton and try Shattered Glass with Hayden Christensen and Peter Sarsgaard. It's based on a true story of Stephen Glass who made up articles for The New Republic magazine. He made up facts that couldn't always be verified but was caught out, it's really well done.

I knew there was another journo film with Michael Keaton (he seems to be in a couple, Spotlight, The Paper) and that's Live From Baghdad with Helena Bonham Carter. It's on youtube, just search 'live from baghdad' and it's there in full. It's a few years old and made by HBO. I think it won a Golden Globe at the time.

Saw The Post last week: excellent, with special and brilliant performances from both Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks - I'm a fan of both. Very well put together film, which starts slowly but gathers pace. Worthy of awards, in my opinion.
A 'must see' if you like this sort of thing.

I love a good journo movie, but I didn't love The Post. I agree Hanks was good but I couldn't get past Meryl Streep being Meryl Streep. She's seemed to have started to have this wobble in her voice that's put on, I dont know how to describe it but I find it distracting.
I watched Downsizing and enjoyed that more. I don't understand why they had to extract all their teeth when big and reimplant small teeth when small. I'd have thought the teeth would shrink with everything else. I know after death teeth and bone remain, but the body/bones shrank so wouldn't thee teeth?
I might try and watch Network in the next few days.

Actually I've just brought Mircles with Jackie Chan so I'll probably watch that first. It's one of his best films. The action and stunts are amazing. There's a fight scene with an sequence that took sooo many takes to film. Jackie has to through a paint can in the air, fight with someone else, spin and then punch through the air just as the paint can is descending and punching the paint can into the assailants face. Timing has to be perfect. These early Chan films are my favourites.
The film is also know an The Chinese Godfather, The Canton Godfather, Mr Canton & Lady Rose.
3m4secs!

Been to see "Finding Your Feet", which is an "Oldies Feel Good Movie" with Timothy Spall and Celia Imrie, both of whom never give a bad performance in anything. They were accompanied by Imelda Staunton and Joanna Lumley, who were good, but a lot of the story was rather predictable. Good fun, however, and lots of laughs.

Went to see ""Early Man" a week or two ago - totally hilarious, and just plain silly most of the time.

I, Tonya is very good. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Alison Janney at the Oscars, she plays her part so well, really vicious.

Watched Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle last night.
Really enjoyed it. Four grown ups playing awkward teenagers worked really well. Lots of laughs, and, well nothing else really, but lots of laughs.

Watched Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle last night. Really enjoyed it. Four grown ups playing awkward teenagers worked really well. Lots of laughs, and, well nothing else really, but lots of laughs. We saw it a few weeks back, I have to say I wasn't that bothered about going because I didn't think it would compare to the Robin Williams version. It completely won me over though, I giggled all the way through.
