My favourite so far is Eye in the Sky starting Helen Mirren. I went to see Independence Day: the Resurgence and Nixon & Elvis at the weekend. I Day was not as good as the original but there were some funny moments and some reasonable special effects. E & N was quirky & odd but was an entertaining 90 minutes. The Ab Fab movie looks promising.

I saw the Revenant on DVD yesterday. That is one hell of a gritty film and not for the faint hearted.

I was a bit disappointed by the Revenant. Yes, the cinematography was brilliant but the way he could light a fire immediately after being swept down raging ribs and waterfalls, that he didn't die of hypothermia or when he fell off the cliff & the whole horse scene just spoilt it a bit for me.

Yes a sort of Bruce Willis in Die Hard meets Dances With Wolves. LOL, I enjoyed it all the same.

I really have to see The Secret Life of Pets I've laughed so much at the trailers and the bits they're using in the insurance adverts...

My husband is interested in the new Independence Day film but I've seen reviews that it's poor.
Mind you the reviews for Pulp Fiction were brilliant and we both hated that so my belief that critics will predict what we will like is rather low!

I really have to see The Secret Life of Pets I've laughed so much at the trailers and the bits they're using in the insurance adverts... It was good but the best bits were in the trailer and there are some quote prolonged scary bits for little people. There was a small boy behind me who constantly said "I don't like it, can we go home?". In the trailer, although obviously not possible, you saw the creatures you could imagine they would want to get up to. In the film as a whole, the animal behaviours took second place to a straightforward good vs evil, car chase cartoon caper so, for me, it lost some of its charm. Looking forward to Now You See Me 2 next week as well as AbFab & the new Ice Age animation.

I'm waiting for the dvd of Florence Foster Jenkins to come out. But the one I am really looking forward to is the new Star Trek.

I enjoyed Florence Foster Jenkins. Star Tek should be excellent, seen the trailer & the Star Fleet uniforms look quite old school.

I saw Spotlight earlier in the year and it is an excellent film in much the same way that All The President's Men is an excellent film. I was really pleased it won the Best Picture Oscar.

I was wondering about the possible scary bits, the alley-cats seemed a bit sinister - I went to see Zootropolis and some parts of that were frightening for me, let alone children. I'll go on my own

Spotlight was excellent & I agree, it reminded me if All The President's Men too. A dificult subject handled with sensitivity and understatement.

Saw Central Intelligence this week. Daft but some laugh out loud moments. Hoping to see Now You See Me 2 and Ab Fab next week,
