The Sister will premiere on ITV on Monday October 26th at 9pm.
The Sister (formerly known as Because The Night) tells the story of the well-meaning but directionless Nathan, a man with a terrible secret he’s prayed would stay buried and for which he’s worked hard to make recompense.
Years into his new and devoted married life, Nathan is rocked to the core when Bob, an unwelcome face from his past, turns up on his doorstep with shocking news, triggering a series of catastrophic decisions which drive a tense and compelling narrative of psychological suspense, dread, love and possible redemption.
Neil Cross wrote the scripts for the limited series, which is based on his novel Burial.
The drama series stars Russell Tovey, Bertie Carvel, Amrita Acharia, Nina Toussaint White, Paul Bazely, Simone Ashley, Amanda Root.

I'm not a huge fan of Russell Tovey - the only recent thing with him in that I watched was Flesh and Blood - and a Radio Times article suggests this is very slow to get going and repetitive, and could have been done in fewer episodes.
I'll probably record it and wait to see what others think.

I’ve seen Russell Tovey in sone good stuff (What Remains and Years & Years are a couple of examples). I also like a slow burner, so I’m going to give this a go.

I don’t know how everyone else got on with this, but I loved it and I’m totally hooked. No spoilers, I just hope everyone else likes it.

I wasn't going to bother with this but was impressed by the reviews. So far I've seen episode 1 which is pleasantly creepy, largely because of camera angles and their dark spooky house, rather than the actual plot. It surely can't be as simple as Nathan accidentally killing Holly's sister (can't remember her name) and covering it up with Bob, can it? And what on earth has Bertie Carvel done to his voice? I don't remember Doctor Foster all that well, but I'm sure I would remember such a weird croak.

I think it is a bit of a curiosity. It seems quite low rent but somehow manages to grip you! And that is despite the timeline flipping about. Thank goodness for the yellow tee shirt. That Bob (what a tosser) just reminds me of Charles Manson so I reckon he killed her and somehow persuaded Nathan that he had done it. I have watched the first two and will have to catch up later.

Have watched episode 3 and it's pretty clear the way this is going to go. Only one episode to go so I will watch, but it is a case of style over substance.

I’m up-to-date and looking forward to the last episode. I’m pretty happy with it, I’ve been on the edge of my seat a few times. I’m wondering if there’ll be a twist at the end.

Was that a bruise on Holly's cheek in the scene by the river?
I wish I'd followed my initial instinct not to bother. This was a load of cobblers. The creepy atmosphere was entirely created by the music and darkness. Russell Tovey does angst very well but I'd have liked a bit of light and shade, and croaky Bertie was simply annoying. Ah, well, chalk it up to experience!

That was my instinct, and yet - and he - had seen her skull earlier on. I was just a bit worried that we were meant to think that he had killed Holly. But of course, why would he?

Ah, well, chalk it up to experience! I agree. I ended up watching it, and like you rather wished I hadn't bothered. There were a lot of cases of dark scenes, annoying loud dramatic music, slow talking and long pauses between lines. I didn't think a lot of Russell Tovey's performance, but then I'm probably a bit biased as I don't rate him much anyway. Amrita Acharia was a bit flat and slow generally - she's better than that in The Good Karma Hospital. And I don't know what's happened to Bertie Carvel's voice - he didn't sound anything like that in Baghdad Central, which was the previous thing I saw him in earlier this year.
I too thought there were bruises on Holly's face in that scene - also on her arm in an earlier scene (or maybe an earlier episode).
