Tuesday (27th) and for the rest of the week at 8pm. (1/8)
This series Chris Packham and his stepdaughter Meghan are in the New Forest, Iolo Williams is at the Centre for Alternative Technology in West Wales, Michaela Strachan is at the RSPB reserve in Fife, and Gillian Burke reports on a restoration project on South Yorkshire. I enjoyed the last series where everyone was in different places, so am looking forward to this one.

Yes, I also enjoyed the lockdown format of Springwatch (as did many others apparently) and am happy that this is continuing for Autumnwatch. Luckily Michaela could make it this time - she said on one of Chris's & Meghan's live facebook sessions that flights to/from South Africa where she lives were still severely restricted, but hers was treated as a permitted "repatriation" since she's British.

Iolo: The Last Wilderness of Wales - while waiting for Autumnwatch to start, facebook has just alerted me to this, in which "Iolo Williams tracks down the rarest wildlife found in the beautiful Cambrian Montains". So far it's only been shown in Wales but is all available on iPlayer: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m000lkv1

Beautiful scenery, lovely animals and colours of Nature, What more could we ask for. A great start, The views from the remotely controlled cameras were interesting too. How clever was that fox in Bristol, opening a bottle of milk with it's teeth. The gentleman in Wales with visiting pine martens, lucky man. looking forward to the rest of the series.

Another delightful visit to the country.Beautiful shots of the bearded vulture (never heard of one). Some great videos sent in by others. I'm loving this series, to be able to see creatures I couldn't go and see for myself, re; seals,& sea birds. Although the only sea birds I see are sea gulls. loved the time lapse film of the slugs on the pumpkin.

It's been a lovely first week, amazing sights And I love the way the presenters have been given jackets in autumn colours But are we really supposed to believe that Chris doesn't know about nuts and seeds?! The double act with his not-strictly stepdaughter is very funny

Another wonderful visit to the Great Outdoors. The Great Fox spider, never heard of one, but it was lovely. Beautiful photos sent in by viewers. I learn something new every night.Lovely photos of bats. Good to see even a city like London has plenty of wildlife. Even seals. Never heard of the Goosander duck either. Be sorry when it all ends on Friday.

I hadn't heard of the Great Fox Spider either until it was on the Springwatch Facebook page a few days ago. Feared to have gone extinct in this country over 20 years ago until one individual who had been searching for 2 years found it again - his dedication has paid off! It's big (2 inches) and hunts prey by chasing and pouncing on it instead of spinning webs - the best sort of spider I think.

New series on Tuesday (26th) to Friday (29th) at 8 pm.
Once again we are in the great Outdoors in the company of Chris Packham, Michaela Strachan, Gillian Burke, and Megan McCubbin. She's going solo this week. Doesn't look like Iolo Williams will be there this time. Looking forward to this. From viewers' photos, to moles, and fungi, all of Nature is here.

Sadly it finishes tonight. Whether it was watching a male Sparrow Hawk taking a bath, or the hedge cam, pond cam, or river cam, all of Nature was there. Good to see Megan McCubbin has her own slot, on the Isle of Mull. They even give you a check list of things to look out for. Squirrels caching food for instance.

I thought she did well. She could benefit from slowing down a tad, so that her mouth is working at a more comfortable speed for the audience to follow, rather than seemingly racing to keep up with her brain! But otherwise a confident and accomplished performance.
Good that they're continuing to have presenters in a number of locations, rather than all concentrated in one place as used to be the case pre-covid. It gives more variety and interest.
In the first episode Gillian gave a presentation on goose migration but forgot to tell us which species she was talking about (unless I missed something?). She did say this was the smallest UK goose so I suppose I should have known, but it wasn't confirmed as the Brent goose until a recap in the final episode.

Autumnwatch will return to our screens, the BBC has confirmed.
Following its cancellation in February, the hit nature programme has been revived for TV – but there's a catch. While the series has historically occupied its own one hour slot, Autumnwatch will be collaborating with The One Show this time round.
Comprising three short films and live link ups on location, The One Show will air the new additions on Tuesday 24, Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 October.
