It is not a new series, I have just started watching it on Netflix think it was produced by BBC Wales. Can only face watching an episode or two at a time as it is a bit dark and gloomy, always foggy or raining, but with gripping plot lines - Welsh noir, set around Aberystwyth.

(I did quickly vet that thread for spoilers - there aren't really any).

It certainly is dark and gloomy! The series can be watched in isolation but there is a story arc that reaches its conclusion satisfyingly in the final episodes of the third and last series. I don't know which version Netflix is showing – it was filmed in Welsh and English and there is an all-Welsh version, a Welsh and English version, and an all-English version made for the US market. So every scene was filmed both in Welsh and English, and the challenges were in the timing as it can take a lot longer to say something in Welsh than in English. There's an article about it here: www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/tv/richard-harrington-hinterland-series-3-poldark-lark-rise-candleford-a7664551.htmlI enjoyed it and would rewatch if it's ever repeated. I don't have Netflix so won't see it there.

I stopped watching because it was all grey tones. Very depressing to look at. And lots of moody staring into space looking constipated from the hero.

The episode I we watched today seemed particularly slow and brooding, more so than the other episodes I have seen. Nerflix are showing the all English version (with Turkish subtitles), I can only face watching one episode and then have to watch something a bit more cheerful.
