Directed and starring George Clooney - this is a bit of a mixed bag of a disaster movie. It's quiet and calm for much of it but with moments of genius in the scary bits. It's more realistic in the reactions of the characters. They are mostly scientists and astronauts so we don't get huge melodrama or chewing of the furniture like you usually do in this genre. The team stays as a team, which makes a change. And the ending is wonderful. Sort of depressing but warming as well. Yes, I know that sounds odd but you will understand if you watch it.
