Not sure which channel in the UK will carry this so I put it here. New series produced by Jim Parsons (Sheldon - Big Bang Theory) and based on the BBC series "Miranda." Miranda Hart serves as producer as well. "Call Me Kat" stars Mayim Bialik as a socially awkward single woman who leaves a professorship at the University of Louisville in Kentucky to open cat cafe (which she lives above) much to the chagrin of her overbearing mother (Swoozie Kurtz) who feels every respectable southern gal needs a husband. I watched the premier episode. It was charming, kinda goofy. A few laugh out loud moments. Good chemistry of the cast. Its a bit of an adjustment seeing Mayim Bialik playing a very animated, zany character after so many years as the dour Amy Farrah Fowler. I found it a bit distracting that Kat kept breaking the fourth wall and speaking to the viewers/camera. I also found it odd that they purposely set the series in Kentucky but none of the characters have southern accents except the brilliantly funny Leslie Jordan who plays the flaming gay pastry chef at Kat's cafe. I have lots of relatives in Kentucky and have been there many times. Pretty much every local speaks with a heavy southern accent. Its definitely worth sticking with there seems good potential and a solid cast.
