A new series of 3 X 2 part stories starts on Wednesday 31 August at 9.00 on ITV1.
i do not think this first one at least is based on an actual Peter Robinson novel. I love the books but am less keen on the TV series. Nevertheless I still find them enjoyable and will be setting the recorder on series link!
I just hope he is isn't mooning about after the ghastly Annie this time. I dislike that character in the books but find the TV version even worse!

I enjoy this series. And I have a feeling he will still be mooning over Annie.

I like this cop show too. That reviewer is a condescending twit.

Perhaps 5 million people watch because it's what they want see on the telly. The reviewer does seem a little pompous, complaining of characters names.

A good concluding episode I thought. The identity of the killer took me by surprise.

I like this cop show too. That reviewer is a condescending twit. I find most of them are. (And they don't usually like the things I do and love the things I don't) I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of Steve Richards though. And what was with that boss going round to Helen's house uninvited.

I didn't see that killer coming either, sooty. Good episode. Sorry Banks lost his lady. He seems doomed as a perpetual loser. I see nothing good coming for Helen with unwanted attention from the boss. She should start taking martial arts classes. Richards and his wife are too good a pair of characters to discard, I think. Sure he will be involved in other cases.

This is only the second series of DCI Banks that I have watched. Could someone tell me what the background story is to his relationship with Annie please? In the previous series I thought they had been married and she had left him to live with someone else and that the child was Banks'. Now it seems she is married to the "someone else" and that he is the little girl's father. Help!

The end of the episode was a bit of a shock.

Vicky, I read the books so get a bit confused between the stories there and on TV. In the books she did not have a baby. But IIRC, Annie and Banks were involved but it fizzled out and she got off with someone else by whom she got pregnant and had Isla. They got back in contact but Banks also realised he loved her. At the end of the last series Banks decided he would declare his feelings, and rushed to the pub to see her, but when she came outside to meet him she was flashing an engagement ring from the other chap which she had just accepted. So he was too late. I was quite pleased as I don't much like Annie, in either version, but if she doesn't die it looks like they will be an item.
That may not be terribly accurate though, apologies if so!

I was shocked too, sooty. Will she survive? Liked the selection board part. Good little speech from Helen.
