Too Close will premiere on ITV on Monday April 12th at 9pm.
Too Close follows forensic psychiatrist Dr Emma Robertson, who is assigned to work with Connie Mortensen, a woman accused of a heinous crime but who claims she can’t remember a thing.
Dr Robertson is not easily shocked. She’s worked with her fair share of high security patients. However, when she’s sent to assess Connie for trial, the two women become dangerously close. Connie has a searing insight into Emma’s deepest insecurities and starts to brutally exploit them.
Their sessions become a complex psychological game with confusing undercurrents. Emma tries to understand Connie and her complicated relationship with her beautiful best friend, Ness Jones, which seems to have made her snap.
But as Emma tries to uncover the truth and learn what triggered Connie’s despicable behaviour, it seems that her attempts to see justice done may destroy her instead.
The three-part drama, which is based on the the novel by Clara Salaman (written under the pen name Natalie Daniels), stars Emily Watson, Denise Gough, Thalissa Teixeira, James Sives, Risteárd Cooper, Chizzy Akudolu, Karl Johnson, Eileen Davies, Nina Wadia and Paul Chahidi.

I'll watch. Always been a fan of Emily Watson, Denise Gough is good too and there are more familiar names in the cast.
The 3 episodes are airing on consecutive nights.

I just hope this is better than Ch. 5's offering. Intruder, last week. That won't actually be hard to achieve!

Must take them ages to get the battered looking makeup on that actresses face According to my listings magazine, 4 hours! It certainly isn't a cosy, easy story to watch. I've set up to record tonight's episode as it clashes with Our Yorkshire Farm and I would rather relax with the Owen family than this distinctly unrelaxing programme. I'm not sure if I will carry on with it or delete the recording.

The security at that “secure” hospital was dreadful! Taking in a cigarette lighter?

The only thing I liked about it was it had Emily Watson in it. I don't know if I'll bother with the rest though as I didn't enjoy it...I'll watch The syndicate instead

I like it, and am about to watch ep.2 in preference to The Syndicate.

What did Emma have to put in the locker at reception if she was able to take in a phone, fags and a lighter? Most odd!
I have only watched episode 1 but thought it was quite good, although I cannot imagine a professional woman like Emma allowing Connie to manipulate the conversation like that. I thought she was decidedly creepy!

There is something creepy about it, and why does the nurse (Mo out of Holby) keep asking Emma about her night shifts? She wouldn’t have anything to do with staff rotas!

I decided to stay with this and I am so glad I did. It was a very powerful and salutary story. The acting, especially from Denise Gough, was superb and is deserving of an award imo. She had me in tears at one point. Not an easy thing to watch but excellently done.

I was impressed and got really drawn in during episode 2. It was involving, tense, well acted and unusual. I noticed it was directed by Sue Tully who has come a long way since her days in EE and she certainly did a bang up job on this.
