Sunday (16th) at 6 pm
Superfan Matt Lucas traces the beginnings of the children's books and TV shows. I suppose it's on at this time so lots of tinies can watch. As will I.

I am so looking forward to this! Always loved the Mr Men series. Arthur Lowe was the original narrator and then John Alderton took over.
Just a handful of characters at the start but loads of them now, with some new ones to be revealed apparently.
Matt is the ideal host for this.

I didn't know John Alderton took over the narration! Learn something new every day.

That was charming! Lovely to learn of the origins of the series and that Roger Hargreaves self published the first ones having failed to interest a publisher, with his family selling the rights for £28 million years later.
Like Beatrix Potter, he believed in "small books for small hands" so a child could easily hold it.
The reactions from all age groups to Matt out and about as Mr Bump and Little Miss Sunshine was great to see.

A great hour of television. Loved Matt in those costumes. They couldn't have had a better presenter. Shame Roger died so young. Glad his son took over, loved the new characters too. Apt names for these times.
