Wasn’t there supposed to be a second series of this great show? Might watch this repeat of the first series as loved seeing Nicola Walker ‘ breaking the fourth wall’ !

I'm looking forward to this, which I will be watching for the first time as I don't have access to Alibi where it first aired. It's based on a radio drama which I also missed, not sure if that in turn was based on a novel or if it was a radio original.
A curious concept, bringing over a Norwegian copper to head up a Scottish marine homicide unit. I hope that will be explained. Is her character Norwegian? Presumably so given her name, unless she married a Norwegian and is now single. She doesn't sound very Norwegian in the trailer currently showing.
I see the first episode involves conflict with her colleagues who find her difficult to accept. Ho, hum, here we go again! Is there a police officer in existence who simply fits in and gets on with the job, I wonder.

In the radio drama she is Norwegian and the settings are all in Norway. I think they moved it to Scotland for ease of filming. I’m watching to see which bits of Largs I recognise!

It seems in this drama they have changed her young toddler son into a teenage daughter, who is Scottish. There are references to Norway, but she doesn’t appear to be Norwegian. I couldn’t recognise any of the places, unless the Marina showed was Largs Marina. It could have been, I haven’t been there that often, not being a boat owner. Gorgeous scenery though, maybe a wee bit north of Largs, but could have been anywhere on the West Coast

She mentioned her parents going back to Norway, suggesting that one of them at least was Norwegian, and that she herself chose not to go because she wanted to be a detective (they have detectives in Norway too, but there you go!). She also brought some Norwegian salmiak (salty) liquorice that she fished out of her pocket, which I thought was a bit naff!
So far I'm underwhelmed but I will give it another go. They certainly made the Clyde coast look lovely.
In the Shetland, Perez's daughter Cassie was a child in the novels who became a teenager in the TV adaptation, I think to give Jimmy someone to talk to at home who had interesting things to say. Perhaps the same here.

Yes I think you are right - filming with a small toddler would not work!
the “breaking of the fourth wall” is exactly as in the radio drama

In last night’s episode, those who saw the beautiful island of Bute and it’s little airport, please note: Bute has no airport, you have to go by ferry just like everyone else. Not sure where they filmed the little plane on the cute little island airstrip! Bute is still worth a visit though.

I didn’t have capacity to record it in the week but a repeat is on either tonight or tomorrow. Around 10.20 I think. So I shall record that to avoid watching it on the UKTV app with its endless ads.

The runway would be just about the length of the island! Well, not quite, but I'm sure there isn't a long enough stretch of flat land.
When I had only recently passed my driving test, a very long time ago, my first longish rural drive was up Loch Lomond, down past Cairndow, through Hell's Glen which is a single-track road, to Colintraive where the tiny ferry goes to Rhubodach at the north of the island, a sailing of five minutes in one direction and ten in the other according to the Calmac timetable - something to do with prevailing wind perhaps. I could not reverse uphill and round a corner off the ferry, the ferrymaster had to do it for me! Probably a bit ambitious for a new driver but I survived!
And yes, it is beautiful.
