Angela Black will premiere on ITV on Sunday October 10th at 9pm.
Angela Black follows the eponymous character, whose life appears idyllic: a lovely house in suburban London, days working as a volunteer at the dogs’ home, two wonderful sons and a charismatic, hard-working husband, Olivier.
However, beneath this façade of charmed domesticity, Angela is also the victim of domestic abuse. Trapped in a relationship she cannot escape, Angela is approached out of the blue by Ed, a private investigator, who spills Olivier’s darkest secrets.
When faced with some horrifying truths about her husband, a stunned Angela is left reeling. Can she really trust Ed? Can she leave behind her life as she knows it and finally free herself from Olivier?
With one encounter, Angela’s life switches from school runs and the dogs’ home to private detectives and buried secrets as she risks everything she holds dear to fight back against the man who has suppressed and tormented her for most of her life. The drama series stars Joanne Froggatt, Michiel Huisman and Samuel Adewunmi.

Have to be honest and say I don't really fancy this.

Is it just me or are all the new dramas really grim and depressing this last couple of years? Just when life itself is grim and depressing. We need something lighter and life affirming right now

It’s not just you, I thought this too. There’s only so much “grim, depressing, bleak” stuff I can cope with. Midsomer, Death in Paradise and others may be silly but sometimes you just need a bit of lightness.

Yep, I'm just boycotting them, especially ones with domestic violence in them.
I just flick through channels and end up watching an old Poirot or Wycliffe or something.
It would be nice to have a drama just about OK people and not where the ok people dig up some awful family secret. You know perhaps someone does die and there are obstacles but not a psychopathic slasher in sight.
When you think how popular things like the Durrells and Downton were, you'd imagine they be on the look out for something similar, but no.

Well at least we have Darling Buds of May to look forward to.

I have learned not to watch anything that Joanne Froggatt is in. She seems to specialise in playing women who have a miserable life and are badly treated. I took the decision to give this a miss after seeing the trailers

I watched it, and it is certainly a bit bleak! I shall stick with it though.

I watched it, and it is certainly a bit bleak! I shall stick with it though. I'm sticking with it too. Although domestic abuse is a big feature of the first episode, there are indications it might turn into more of a psychological thriller. We'll see.

I think this has gone a bit flat. I am also unconvinced by this hitman Ed. I wonder if he is a friend of Yuki trying to get vengeance. I was struck by the fact the no sooner had he told her this evidence was in the briefcase that never left her husband’s side, Olivier immediately forgot to take it to work so she could have a good rummage having forced the locks but without apparently leaving any trace. And how long did that courier wait for her to open the door?? About three seconds.

My thoughts were she's being framed for the murder of Yuki (although that may or may not have actually happened). I'm sure if a stranger came to me claiming my spouse had an affair with someone who then disappeared, showed me where supposedly their body is buried, told me I was next on their list and offered to do something about it for me, I would be smelling an awful lot of rats! And I agree the whole business of the briefcase and what she found in it is suspiciously convenient.

It's now looking more like planned gaslighting by the husband to get her put away as a mentally unstable and unfit mother.
But we're only half way through the series. Will there be any mystery and shock revelations, or will it be a more straightforward story of her turning things around and extricating herself from the situation?

I am watching it, and sticking with it so far, but honestly, I am thinking about recording it and not watching it on Sunday evening when I want something light and fluffy for the end of the weekend.
