I haven’t quite finished but am enjoying it. I thought he looked better than in the still photos, and almost had a touch of Damian Lewis about him. I find the blonde female spy hard to hear though.

I find I use subtitles a lot these days…even though I can hear perfectly

Yes I use subtitles most of the time too, it really helps with actors who talk really fast and there’s a lot of background noise. Enjoyed the first episode. I haven’t seen any previous film, nor read the book, but have always liked spy stuff. I may have drifted off in the final ten minutes though, hope I didn’t miss too much

I enjoyed it too and I've never seen the original, nor am I particularly fond of spy stuff. But I viewed it as a bit of insight into the 60s. I loved the nod to the way US television series were made back then (eg, the title fonts used, and soundtrack). Or did I over-think that?

I thought it was OK although the actor playing HP looked far too young. One thing I do miss from the original film is the tremendous John Barry soundtrack.

Episode two was even better I thought. I love the period feel of it, especially Jean's clothes. I wore suits like her's to work in the 60s and I even had one of those pillbox hats. I do find the actress hard to follow though, she speaks far too fast without opening her mouth properly. There were times last night when she seemed to be speaking gobbledegook. Thank goodness for subtitles.

I’ve abandoned ship, I’m afraid. I was looking forward to it but cannot take to the female lead at all. Joe Cole is not exactly charismatic either. It is just very flat imho.

I think it’s the woman I cannot abide. Also, recording it on ITV+1, the subtitles don’t run to time so that’s annoying and I find her very hard to understand. I just don’t think she is well cast, although she does look very Jean Shrimpton. I might try it on the hub.

The main character was miscast, in my opinion, otherwise I really enjoyed it.

I watched an episode of Modern Love on Amazon (not as good as it’s cracked up to be) and it starred this actress as an Irish woman who meets Kit Harrington as an Irish man on a train in the first lockdown. Well, I could understand every word she said in that, as opposed to practically nothing in this show.
