Tenko has stood the test of time well, I think – it was repeated a while ago on the now-defunct (I think) UK TV History channel and was gripping. Sadly a series like that is unlikely to be made now – given time to make its point, almost exclusively female cast, very unglamorous.
I'm really enjoying the rerun of Shetland on Drama – I know it's not long since it was shown on the Beeb. This is going back to the first series adapted from the novels and they really are rather good. I like Douglas Henshall's calm, sensible copper who doesn't have any nasty habits or personal baggage, just a daughter who loves him and a good relationship with his colleagues.
I've also been watching Wycliffe on ITV3. All of the above applies to his copper, but sadly the storytelling is pretty poor. I don't know how well they relate to the original stories. The Cornwall setting looks good though.

I was always a big fan of Juliet Bravo. I loved Heartbeat too. It's oldish now but still shown daily.

I loved Tenko all the way to the end ... unlike other series like Heartbeat , Casualty and Where The Heart Is .. I was glued when they first started .. but then characters start to leave and they get replaced and you feel that the storylines are being reivsited and it isn't the same ... I think when the 60's went on for about 20 years in Heartbeat put me off a bit lol

Coupling. Definately the Moff's finest half hours.

I used to like Clocking Off.

Yes, Clocking Off was excellent. Terrific ensemble cast including new faces who have gone on to greater things, and well known actors appearing in one or two episodes only. Later attempts to do something similar didn't really work IMO – The Street comes to mind.

Of course my greatest love was the original Star Trek! (now being repeated back to back at weekends). Watching it now , well lets just say, it looks clunky, and hasn't aged well. The acting is wooden, but it was the highlight of my week. Oh and Blakes 7!

Whose acting is wooden? The main stars did some great acting. Yes it's old but you're being a bit harsh!

It's bound to have dated, but I never noticed the bad acting. Also ... two other favourite old sci-fi series, Captain Scarlet and Joe 90 (that spinning sphere thing, how cool was that? - and great theme music from the fabulously talented, John Barrie).

Captain Scarlet, I never got into that. And always thought it was Cary Grant doing the voice. But I liked Joe 90 a lot.

Francis Matthews did the voice of Captain Scarlet.
Original Star Trek = my happiest memories of being a 13-year old (that's how old I was when it finally came to the UK). Yes, it looks old-fashioned now, but without it there'd have been no Picard, Sisko, Janeway or Archer. We also wouldn't have the fabulous movie reboot with Chris Pine, because there'd be nothing to reboot.
As to bad acting, I challenge anyone to express emotion using only the eyes and without noticeably changing their facial expression, the way the great Leonard Nimoy did. Acting masterclass!

Another one of my childhood favourites was Robinson Crusoe, with that beautiful theme tune.
