Hullraisers will premiere on Channel 4 on Tuesday April 12th at 9:45pm.
Hullraisers centres on three women; Toni, Rana, and Paula, and looks at their dishevelled, messy and joyful lives.
The series explores the hilarious and agonising reality of what it is to be a working-class woman juggling work, kids, demanding friends, family and frustrating parents from the school playground – all whilst trying to have some fun too.
The comedy series is based on the hit Israeli series Little Mom, and stars Leah Brotherhead (Bridgerton, White Gold), Taj Atwal (Line of Duty, Truth Seekers) and Sinead Matthews (The Crown, The Power).

Is it a working-class writer that's adapted it? Cos otherwise it will be cliche-ridden nonsense and I expect the critics (middle-class the lot of them) will find it hilarious. We shall see.

I'm with you there Miranda. I can't even watch the trailer for that new show about the man who faked his death. Yes they'd got into financial difficulties but before that they were doing well, two big houses by the seafront. Lots of well connected friends. But in the trailer they look wobegone and thick. And they aren't GEORDIES, so what the hell is that accent.
If this show about 3 women in Hull has them all on benefits I'm out. I hated Bread, because it played straight into the scroungers theory that Thatcher started and has persisted since. That everyone on benefits and everyone poor just hasn't put enough effort in. And it let's people get away with saying that nobody should have any joy if they're poor.
Grrrrrrr!!!

Written by Lucy Beaumont and Anne-Marie O’Connor - whoever they may be. Lucy Beaumont, born and raised in Hull, is also a stand up and married to Jon Richardson.

Oh! I know her from Meet the Richardsons. Don't know what her background is though.

She's from Hull. The daughter of a playwright and artist I think.
She did stand up for a while. I think she won some awards. She's better known now as John Richardson's wife and the show they do together.
The other writer is more established- Waterloo Road and other things.
I'll watch one.

I watched the first one and thought it mildly amusing, after the third one I cancelled the series link.

Yes, that about covers my reaction too. I have watched them all now, it was a useful filler when I hadn't much time to spare. Found it essential to have subtitles on.
