This is the new drama airing daily this week. It concerns Jen, Leanne Best, a paramedic suffering from PTSD after some train related incident. She is also a gambling addict who has run up debts of thousands of pounds. She meets by chance (or is it, I’m suspicious!) a woman called Sasha, Anna Chancellor, a handbag entrepreneur with whom she becomes very close very quickly. Sasha has lost her sister (I reckon this is train related too!) and carries her ashes about. She suggests Jen should nick drugs from the ambulance to finance her debt. I haven’t got any further! Apparently the loan shark is played by Hayley Mills.
I quite enjoyed episode 1 despite being completely unable to watch the previous Sheridan Smith saga about a gambling addict! I am highly suspicious of Sasha though. Hopefully this will end sensibly, unlike Deadline which went a bit OTT.

Hayley Mills was really sinister as the loan shark. Her performance was the highlight of the episode I thought.

....knew Sasha was a wrong 'un although none of the main characters are very likeable.

I haven’t seen the final episode yet, but after three episodes I must say I am disliking the husband! I’m sure we are supposed to sympathise with him and I do….. and I know I would be pretty vindictive if my spouse gambled away everything. But he seems to have turfed her out with no cash, no cards, no phone, no belongings, no access to the home, no access to the children. I mean that can’t be right can it? I also hope I never get a paramedic like Jen!!! She is so stressed out by the accident and all the financial issues, plus she might steal the drugs intended for me and flog them going by the story so far.
I have enjoyed this show to an extent, mainly due to the two female leads I think, but it seemed unlikely anyone would become so friendly so quickly, and be so easily persuaded to steal drugs.

Just a shame that Hayley Mills played such a peripheral role. She's such a tremendous actor and her character was one of the very few highlights of this.

It was nice to see her on TV, wasn’t it? I hope she gets some more screen time after this.

Hayley Mills did well playing quite an unpleasant character. Not exactly Pollyanna! Apparently she's going to be in series 5 of ITV's 'Unforgotten' later this year.
I appreciate the issues 'Compulsion' brought to our attention, but as a whole I found it rather over-egged and improbable. C5's next 4-part offering (presumably, as they're advertising it) will be 'Witness No. 3' - I expect I'll watch it.
