Anyone watching this? Good cast (Damien Lewis, Guy Pierce) Watched the first episode and found it very slow, so thought I might not bother with the rest. Now thinking I should persevere as it may improve. Will report back if I do watch more!

I like it; but I have always liked things like this.
The only real problem is that there are too many flashbacks during the interrogations.

So, I have binged it through to the end, and it is really good. The only one of the main characters not to have existed was Lily Thomas, but the portrayal of all the others was reasonably accurate, from what I remember of the reports that were made public.

I watched the first episode the other night and thought the period feel was excellent, the clothes, the casual sexism and snobbery (not everything changes, sadly), the booze and fags. I was unaware of the part Nicholas Elliott played in the saga, but given the secrecy surrounding the whole thing before the revelation of the Philby's treachery became unavoidable it's not surprising it wasn't made public. Spies spying on spies, great stuff. Looking forward to the rest of it.
Given that Lily Thomas is an invented character as a composite of several people, which I understand was felt necessary to focus the drama, I wonder why they gave her such a peculiar accent! I freely admit that I find it difficult to distinguish Durham and Geordie, but hers doesn't seem to be either.
