I have been drawn to this by its subject matter, and by the fact that it is rated as the fourth best series on Amazon Prime at this time.
Three Pines is a mystery television series starring Alfred Molina, based on the novel series by Louise Penny centered on Chief Inspector Armand Gamache. The first season premiered on Amazon Prime Video on 2 December 2022 with four standalone murder mysteries each spanning two episodes.
In the first story, Gamache ignores his superior's orders and investigates the disappearance of Blue Two-Rivers. As punishment, he's dispatched to the remote village of Three Pines to solve the murder of a wealthy socialite with no shortage of suspects.
Alfred Molina is very good in his part and, so far, it looks very good. I hope they make more, and I have found more books to add to my shopping list.

I have watched the first two stories and rather enjoyed them. I like Alfred Molina in the role.

I have just got some of the books. The first murder in the series is taken from the second book.

It is very interesting when you get television series that are based on books. If they are badly done, no matter how close they are to the book, you find yourself wanting to throw things at the screen. And when they end up, far away from the text on the whim of the adapter, e.g. Sarah Phelps, it is the same. But I am finding none of that, here. I am liking the books, and the television series, and where there are differences, I am not annoyed, because the differences in the script, do not take away from the overall story.
And I still think that Alfred Molina is very good as Chief Inspector Armand Gamache.

This has been cancelled by Amazon! What a shame as it was enjoyable, and a bit different too. There is a bit of a kerfuffle on Twitter so you never know, there may be a change of heart I guess, but the cast and the author are disappointed. Apparently Amazon and the 2 other companies could not agree terms. ☹️

Given how it ended I didn't expect there would be any more which disappointed me at the time so I'm sorry that it was planned to carry on but now it won't happen. I've read most of the books and it was good to see the characters on the screen. Although when reading I imagined Armand to be more like Tcheky Karyo I quickly took to Alfred Molina in the part.
