This is a drama about a New York newspaper reporter who loses her job for being, well, a bit of a dick. She gets a job in Alaska on a small newspaper in Anchorage. I thought it was going to be a quirky 'fish out of water' story but t is deeper than that. I know next to nothing about Alaska but I think it written by someone who does know as the social problems there feature heavily. Alaska is a gorgeous place but living there is very tough.
This stars Hilary Swank. I've never really rated her as an actress but she's pretty good in this.

Oh I like Hilary Swank. I'll have a look.
Has the phrase featured yet, that if you're looking for a husband in Alaska "the odds are good, but the goods are odd"?

I've watched as far as poss. and I love it! I gather it's been on a mid-season break but has just started up again, at least in North America. Hilary Swank has been nominated for a Golden Globe already for her performance.

Just watched the last one and it wrapped up really well. And a good story for the new season.

I've finished it too and enjoyed it. Fingers crossed for a second series.
