More twisty than a twisty turny thing! That was good! One thing through, if “Moria”/ whoever she was was meant to be married to Hugh Laurie’s creepy doctor, were they going to try the same thing on him?

A big Five Star from me, too. I take it the timeline was the 50's, would they have had trouser suits in those days? Especially to get married in? I'm a 50's baby, but don't recall any.

What I didn’t understand was how Moira had the time to be in this relationship with John Savage in London, arranging murders of various people and being in the Welsh village at the drop of a hat, if she was married to Hugh Laurie and living at The Grange. He didn’t seem the type to appreciate a wife having a life apart from him. I very much enjoyed it but did find the explanation of it all a little rushed. Why did they hire that married couple? They were spotted at The Grange weren’t they so presumably Hugh Laurie would have seen them in his home… and wondered why they were there! He didn’t seem to have much idea of what his wife did!

He did say that his wife went off to have some time in town and have adventures, so I don't think he kept tabs on her much at all.
I enjoyed it. I did think one rushed explanation was a bit of a let down for such a complicated plot.
In the book, I thought Bassington-ffrench got away.

Oh lor.... that is a tricky one. Probably The Murder of Roger Ackroyd or Five Little Pigs. Endless Night is the creepiest one. Only read it once. Endless Night is my favourite of her books, although Crooked House is up there too. From the filmed/TV versions, I'm also rather partial to the Joan Hickson one of Sleeping Murder. 🙂

I like that one as well. I read it quite young. I don't know Agatha would have liked this film version as she wrote it quite young so there's more humour in her story. It's a bit more Boys Own Adventure in style whereas it's filmed much darker in tone. My favourite character in this version is Frankie's mother!I'm very surprised Frankie's parents weren't at the wedding (unless I blinked and missed them!). Guess it cost too much to get Emma Thompson and Jim Broadbent back for more days of filming. Thought Lucy Boynton was superb (she stole all scenes she was in), and it was nice to see Paul Whitehouse away from the fishing banks and back in an acting role.🙂

Yes, I too was looking for them and decided they could only arrange for/afford one day’s filming with them! 😂 Emma is a friend of Hugh’s, isn’t she, so perhaps it was a favour to appear at all.

She may have asked him for a role as the mother doesn't appear in the book. She certainly enjoyed herself playing it!

I binged it this afternoon. I thought it was excellent. I hope Hugh Laurie adapts another Christie novel.

Really enjoyed it. The cameos were well integrated into the drama and the cars were wonderful! This adaptation seemed to be closer to the book than others and no bad thing for that.

I was glad they kept the twist at the end. Christie's twists come in two flavours - either 'well, I wouldn't have got that in a month's of Sundays!' or 'Oh of course! duhhh!'. The latter are my favourites but I do like the former as well. This was the former.
