This adaptation of Iain Banks' novel has recently been shown on BBC Scotland so will probably come to BBC1 shortly, if not it's on the iplayer. I do recommend it. It dates back to 1996, but is as fresh today as when it was first shown. It's a mystery set in a wealthy Scottish family and has a stellar cast including a young-ish Peter Capaldi (with a lot of curly hair) as the missing uncle of the main character played by Joe McFadden, who discovers some papers left by his uncle and sets out to solve the mystery, with his uncle appearing to him in visions to help him focus on the significance of the information he uncovers.
It struck me how content-rich it is, and it's necessary to concentrate to stay on top of all the plot details. If it were to be made today I suspect the plot would be simplified for today's shorter attention spans.
The title refers to a long road in Glasgow where the main character lives, but it's also a saying referring to death – if someone has gone up the Crow Road, they have died.

I have seen it before, but it’s so good I’ll watch again. Bill Patterson and Stella Gonet (The House of Elliot) also feature. I definitely recommend this as an above average drama

I watched it when it was first shown and it inspired me to read all Iain's novels - brilliant!
