Anyone watching this. I nearly didn’t bother because I saw the excellent play A Very Expensive Poison at the Old Vic about all this so felt it might just be like watching a repeat. However I decided to give it a go and must say I thought it started extremely well. I’ve only watched the first two but the production is very strong and the acting good, and the seriousness is clearly expressed without any histrionics . What I like is the way the police are portrayed as efficient, empathetic and collegiate, rather than the usual antipathy between various branches of law enforcement you usually see onscreen, especially in US shows. But that’s all about Willy waving isn’t it? I’d quite happily hand over a difficult case!!!
I am surprised this has been billed as a David Tennant vehicle, unless things change. He died in episode 1 and the police have carried the programme. Mark Bonnar is the head honcho, this time playing a cockney. He is of course his usual excellent self.

Yes, we’ve been watching this and like you, have only so far seen the first two. Excellent drama and it’s really intriguing seeing the machinations of all the security agencies working together.

Only had time to watch the first one yet but I was impressed. I too like the empathetic way the police are written. It certainly does make a change. David Tennant is such a brilliant actor that he seems able to take on both the persona and the looks of whoever he plays without you ever losing sight of the fact that you are watching David Tennant. I'm thinking not only of this but his role as Dennis Nilsen too. I don't know how he does it, it is uncanny!

I watched this series a few months back on some other channel, maybe Netflix, and I thought it very good. David Tennant is an amazing actor. To respond to the comment about him dying early on, I’m sure he is in every episode but I think , from what I remember there are lots of flashbacks.

He featured on things like CCTV in subsequent episodes but did very little acting beyond the first episode.
