Anyone watch last night's first episode of this series which was originally shown on Britbox? I thought it was dreadful, a mish mash of cliches in crime drama. Troubled detective who attends AA meetings, rookie female sidekick whom he patronises and then immediately apologises when she challenges him, departing older detective who has strippers at his leaving do, gnarled older DCI who can't see what is in front of his nose, foul-mouthed colleague (played by Jamie Sives having a whale of a time after his squeaky clean turn in Annika). It's all there. Oh, did I not mention, the plot concerns the abduction of a young schoolgirl.
Based on a novel by Irvine Welsh who you might think would have come up with something more original. Perhaps the plot will become more interesting but I won't be sticking around to find out.

Oh dear. I also read a poor review of this. I have recorded it but my attention will be on Wimbledon for the next fortnight so the backlog may grow.

It’s very aggressively acted isn’t it? Lines virtually snarled at everyone, and Jamie Sives seems to be in another series completely. Actually I found it hard to follow, and don’t think I’ll bother with the rest.

According to Radio Times, the second series will be available on ITVX from 21 September. I didn't enjoy the first series much, but I'll probably at least start to watch S2.

Excellent series. Very gritty and dark but so real. No pandering to anyone. Very very well written and acted. Refreshing drama

I’ve watched the first two, and I’m really enjoying it. I don’t currently have time to binge the whole thing, but it means it’s lasting me longer
