Well this was an absolute joy. It began life at Chichester last year and has just transferred to the West End. I saw a tour of this some years ago which was enjoyable but this is on another level. The star here is Charlie Stemp who stormed to prominence a few years back in Half A Sixpence (in which he was terrific) and he is still only 29. In this he plays Bobby Child, a rich guy from NYC with theatrical longings who goes to Nevada to foreclose on a theatre but obviously fancies having a go himself. I didn’t recognise the names of anyone else in the cast but the female lead was Carly Anderson.
Really the choreography is the other star of this show. It is just stunning and the whole cast performed it with such professionalism that it looked effortless, and I didn’t spot anyone in the whole show who got out of time at all. It also covered a variety of styles, so taptastic yes but also Gene Kellyesque, and a Fred and Ginger ending. The theatre was full and the audience went nuts for it. And although Stemp is obviously the big name here, it did have a wonderful ensemble feel. We all loved it.

I feel very envious now! We saw Crazy for You in New York a few years ago. I know it was excellent but, obviously didn't know any of the cast.
