Is anyone watching this. I think it was on Acorn beforehand.
I'm 3 episodes in and it has some good actors and presence. It is about Queen Elizabeth's youth. Not bad and you could binge it. I don't know how far we get in this series and I understand it wasn't picked up for a second series which is a shame because we are getting a bit of insight into King Edward and that's something rarely shown.

I think it is highly watchable!!!! It reminds me of a book I read in my teens about the Elizabeth/Thomas Seymour relationship. I think it was by Jean Plaidy or someone similar, because I wasn’t allowed to read anything too racy and she was deemed acceptable 😀. But this is well put together and yes, it is a pleasant change to see Edward centre stage.

I'm afraid I didn't bother which is a pity if it's good but I'm a tad fed up with one costume drama after another about the Tudors, when there are so many other periods that are rich in content and don't get a look in. Richard III, for example, or John of Gaunt, or Elinor of Aquitaine. One about mediaeval queens would be good – there are quite a number.

Yes I’m watching it and think it’s really interesting. We rarely see Elizabeth before she comes to power, and I think this is the first time I’ve seen lady Jane Grey and Edward VI portrayed on screen

I'm watching and enjoying. It's from Starz - now part of Lionsgate - who clearly have a fascination for future Tudor queens since they previously made The White Princess (Elizabeth of York) and 2 seasons of The Spanish Princess (Catherine of Aragon).
The first series only seems to go up to Edward's death, so we won't get any of Lady Jane Grey or Mary's reign, more's the pity.

Oh that’s a shame. I was hoping for the Lady Jane Grey bit. It has been nice seeing her as a character. I think BBC4 (?) showed a docudrama about her in recent years and I remember enjoying that.

Yes, this series and it is only one, is very interesting in showing the confusion after Henry VIIIs death and the boy King kept under control. It would have been interesting to see Queen Jane and what happened there. Most people who have even heard of her think she was executed almost immediately once Queen Mary took control. It's not the case and many did not think she would ever be executed due to the situation she had been put in.
King Edward was on track to be worse than Queen Mary in his persecutions, I wonder if we get any of that.

Thanks g-man. My series record appears to have tracked the changes, but it’s a shame as I was going to watch the first episode “live” so to speak

Well I really enjoyed that. It was very sumptuous as well, with great settings. It’s a shame we don’t get into the events after Edward’s death.

Yes I just finished it, very enjoyable and I too would have loved an episode with Jane Grey and Mary.
